Bring it to life!!

Take a song that has great lyrics, a really good melody, and a banging hook. But, it is missing the right "voice" that is capable of expressing the kind of emotions needed to breathe life into that great song with those beautiful lyrics and banging melody, what you basically have is not much. What you have is a song that is lifeless and not memorable.

A singer's absolute responsibility is to convey a song in such a way that makes the "story" believable by use of their vocals chords which is their instrument and their raw emotions to express certain feelings in an authentic fashion. Being able to sing in the right key is very important, but "owning" the song thereby releasing your “heart and soul” lyrically one note at a time is what it's all about. Allow yourself to be totally organic. Don't be afraid to "feel what you feel." That is when "magic" is created.

Example: If the song is a sad song, a singer needs to evoke something emotional from within that can bring out something latent or hidden or unexpressed in order to convey the actual “heart and soul” of the song. One caveat, your emotion has to be totally organic (real) and not make believe. You need to be able to intertwine your heart and soul with the actual song like notes and keys that fill the moments.

Live it! Breathe it! Sing it!!!
There's no in between... Bring it to life.
