Booking Info.: http://www.getbiggaa.com/talent |
Born in Augusta, GA, Chuck Roberson is a dynamic singer that sounds like a cross between Jackie Wilson and Tyrone Davis. Influenced by such artists as Bobby Bland, Little Milton, Tyrone Davis, and O.V. Wright, however, much respect and credit is appreciated by the likes of Tyrone Davis and Johnny Taylor who mentored him and taught him the business-side of the industry.
Roberson began his musical career in the mid-'70s issuing several singles on the Albradella label, including such titles as "Love Affair," "You're Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone," and "I Feel It Coming," which enjoyed regional success.
In the late '70s, Roberson relocated to Philadelphia in hopes of launching a disco career. He later returned to North Florida in 1983 and released two LP’s in 1987. "I Don't Think You Heard Me Yet" on Traction Records and "Lollypop Man" on the Vision Records Label, which raised his profile.
"Lollypop Man" became his signature tune. In 1991 he released an LP, "The More We Are Together", on the Albany Georgia label called Soul Portion. He later signed with Ecko Records in 1996. The label positioned him as a singer of ribald Southern Soul Blues on his debut LP "Something Good For You", "Lollipop Man 2" and the title track: “Something Good For You”. This formula continued for six more albums for the label before Chuck found himself back on the independent level.
He promptly formed his own imprint, Cruise On Records, and issued a new record in 2005 called "Expressions Of Yesterday" and it stayed #1 for 6 weeks on the Blues Critics “Top Ten” List. The release compiled the choicest sides from his first two LPs from the late 80s with the addition of several new songs.
In 2009 Roberson signed with CDS Records for a full band CD with 100% real instruments. He was later introduced to Pete Peterson with Desert Sound Records, and released two LP’s: “I’ll Take Care of You” 2013, and “The Devil Made Me Do It” 2012. Within two years of working with Desert Sound Records, Chuck became the Executive Vice President and later became the Owner of Desert Sound Records.
Legendary Southern Soul Blues Extraordinaire, Chuck Roberson has released two CD’s on the Cruise On Records Label. The 2014 LP, “The Other Side of Me”, which has received three nominations: The Best Song by Long Time Veterans, “We’re Gonna Have a Party, We’re Gonna Have Some Fun”. It was also nominated for Best Cover Song, “When Something Is Wrong With My Baby”, and the CD itself was a top contender for CD of the Year for 2014. His latest album of 2015 is entitled: “Over In the Woods”. His latest release came in at #1 on the Top Ten Corner on Daddy B. Nice Rating, and moved to #2 on Top Ten Corner, where it remains today.
