Art and Fear

"Fear can hold you prisoner, Hope can set you free!" Why are so many people afraid to realize their dreams? Is it because of fear of rejection? Perhaps it’s fear of failure or embarrassment. Whatever the situation may be, one has to acknowledge what they’re feeling and take action. Do not allow your fears to exploit you!
The fear of failure is the strongest force that holds people down. Why is that so? It’s because we are afraid to make mistakes. We are afraid that if one thing doesn’t work out that nothing will. What it all boils down to is our mind playing tricks on us. So what if you were not successful at your first, second or third attempt; sometimes, it takes multiple attempts before getting it right. Let’s face it, no one is perfect. We all learn through trial and error.
Playing it safe has risks as well. If you never dare to try, your success will have a low ceiling. Most people underrate their value, talent and ability to recover from failure(s), often leading them to pass up incredible opportunities. The ability to fall short, and fail often has been a mark of the spectacularly successful people throughout history.
As an artist, you definitely have to understand that we all have to “pay our dues.” Those of you who take on music performance know creativity takes time and success does not happen overnight.

If you can make money doing what you love to do, whether you become a millionaire or not, isn’t it worth living out your dreams? Most people can only be so lucky. Yes, money can enhance the comfort of your life, but it cannot bring you true happiness. Happiness comes from within.
